Si means the same thing as oui: "yes". We use it to disagree with negative questions and respond in the affirmative: - Tu aimes les chats? - Oui! (-Do you like cats? -Yes!)

Tu ne m'aimes plus ? - Mais si ! Je t'aime toujours ;  -Don't you love me any more? -Of course I do! I still love you;

Je ne crois pas que l'homme a marché sur la Lune. - Mais si c'est vrai ! Crois-moi ! I don't believe that man has walked on the Moon. - But it's true! Believe me

(Mais) non ! : (But) no!
- Tu aimes les chats ? - Non, je n'aime pas les chats ! -Do you like cats? -No, I don't like cats!

Je peux toucher ce cactus ? - Mais non, ça pique ! (-Can I touch this cactus? - No, it prickles!)

(Mais) oui ! : (But) yes !
- Tu aimes les chats ? - Oui, j'aime les chats ! -Do you like cats? -Yes, I love cats!

Tu aimes les cactus ? - Mais oui, j'en ai plein la maison ! (-Do you like cacti? - Yes, I've got a house full of them!)
