au cas où (il neigerait) : in case (it snows)

Au cas où is always followed by a verb, generally in the conditional. Exception: we can use au cas où on its own to mean "just in case".

Je te le dis, au cas où. I’m telling you, just in case.
Je te le dis, au cas où ça t’intéresserait. I’m telling you this in case it interests you.

en cas d’(urgence) : in the event of (an emergency), in case of (emergency)

En cas de is always followed by a noun.
