Verbs ending in -ir with past participles ending in -u

The verbs tenir (to hold), venir (to come), courir (to run) and vĂȘtir (to dress) have past participles that end in -U. To create them, remove the -IR and add -U (tenir → tenu, venir → venu, courir → couru, vĂȘtir → vĂȘtu). They are conjugated in the passĂ© composĂ© in the following way :

Nous avons tenu

venir en
